And then...

Woke up late to start the day off perfectly wrong. Elijah didn't want to get dressed. Isaac couldn't find his belt. David thought Isaac should just stay home and me take him late when he finds his belt so he sent him in and was pulling out... making me run out in my PJs with Isaac . It was a FUN morning.
And then... I'm cleaning. Thursday is the day I go to school late b/c of chapel. I have an extra hour in the morning and I was putting it to good use. Until I saw the block I'd put in Elijah's backpack last night. He's been learning about the letter A. Today in circle time they were going to share a toy that started with the letter A. Elijah wanted to take the peek-a-block for the letter A. It has an airplane inside. It was on the counter. Emailed his teacher to see when circle time was... 9:45. Yey. I got to go to church earlier than usual.
And then... I needed gas. Levi was asleep in the car and I didn't need to drop him off at church until 10:45. I was below empty and drove to the gas station. Didn't have purse. I always leave it in the car (in the garage). Forgot E found candy in it and was throwing a fit last night... I brought it in to give him a little. I had no gas. None. David thought I'd be able to make it back to school (and BTW- he'd already apologized for making a mountain out of a molehill about the belt... which I'd found and taken with the block...). Back to school, got David's debit card... and got gas. And then BACK to the elementary to take Levi.
To school I go... and debate whether we should accept the invitation to sing at Meet the Eagles Tuesday. I was also typing a letter to send home to parents after the first Honor Choir rehearsal. I had a lot to do... but still met David at Caper's for lunch. I don't get to lunch often and didn't want to miss it. I can only go every other Thursday (which is every other Thursday more often than I've been able to go in oh... 3 or 4 years?) Back to school for 6th period. Got song worked out for Meet the Eagles... if only sound wasn't an issue...
And then in car to go to Elem for honor choir. Missing part of pump. GREAT. Haven't fed a baby since about 8 am and it is now 2. I hoped and prayed Levi was awake at church and I could feed him before choir. Praise the Lord he was. But I had 20 minutes to feed him, cut out 27 names, assign seats in choir, get the snack out of David's office... yeah. L had just woken up so he was hungry and ate quickly. Thank goodness... but had to pass the poor guy right back :( He didn't like that too much. He was ready to stay with mom.
And then... Elijah's teacher didn't get the email that he was supposed to go to extended care. So, after he waited for me in the car line, they took him to David's office. So then he was REALLY wanting me and David thought it would be wise to let him come see me while I was in charge of 27 3rd-6th graders. So then he throws a fit when he had to leave.
Then I teach honor choir. I hear my phone receiving messages from David which I ignored b/c I was teaching. They were letting me know that Elijah had pooped his pants. Yee haw! One more thing. David dealt with the bulk of the mess and then he simmered in the rest of it until I got home...
Abigail had a party after honor choir so we drove around for an hour before coming home.
It was a fun day.

First Week!

Elijah- he did great. He walked down the hall holding my hand no tighter than he usually does, went right in the room and let go of my hand, hung up his backpack as told, and then to a table to play. There were other kids all around not quite so excited and he just did his own thing. Even later when some other kids had a total melt down, he continued to do his own thing and play :) So he did great. Of course, whenever I ask him what he did that day, he says "I got in trouble" and acts all dejected. I don't know what that's all about b/c his teachers tell me he isn't getting into trouble. I think he's just sensitive... like Noah.
Levi- Also... did great :) He's adjusting well to his new caregivers. He goes to the church M-W where Ms. Mona watches him and stays home on Th&F with Ms. Stephanie. He's decided he likes a sippy cup better than a bottle. He wasn't taking the bottle at church so I changed to a sippy Thursday and he took it just fine. I am having to give him more solids than I'd like only b/c he doesn't take as much as he needs to from the sippy... but that's ok. Will keep on pumping and giving it in a sippy... though I detest pumping.
Isaac- Mrs. Bailey loves him like she loved Noah. She said he's doing great and even though *I* don't think he and Noah are much alike, she apparently does. That's a good thing. If Isaac acts like Noah at school... great. Just wish he acted like Noah at HOME! ha
Noah- He's the one I don't hear much from. He loves school and remembers what he's supposed to do on his own. I don't have to say much. I do know that they aren't doing the bug project. I've been collecting neat looking dead bugs ever since Abigail did the bug project in 4th grade. It is one of the few projects I actually LIKE! They can assmeble the board and label it all on their own, I can see the learning benefit from doing it... and it doesn't cost a lot! And THAT'S the one they stop! lol It's ok. Just hope one doesn't take it's place that doesn't meet the above criteria :)
Abigail- she broke up with her boyfriend Monday and didn't tell me!! I was talking to his mother Friday night at a back to school party held at the high school and didn't have a clue. David tells me after that... she had only told him that morning. I asked her not long ago if she thought they'd "stay together" once school started b/c most break up at the start of the school year. She told me she wasn't planning on it. I was glad. I like the kid. I knew she wasn't "ga ga" over him or anything, but she just liked him. I don't want her to be "ga ga" over anyone so I was happy that it was just agood friend thing. So now *that's* over and I hope she don't get another one! ha She loves her teacher though and LOVES being in the 6th grade. She grew up a lot over the summer.
Me- I have the best students you can imagine. I say that all the time, but it is sooooo true. They are so talented, so fun, work hard, want to excel. Love it. I'm ready to have a normal day. We've had "the first day" when I go over the syllabus (BORING). The second day a bunch of kids were out b/c the principal met groups throughout the day. And the third day the seniors were out for senior retreat! We worked on "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go" ha We did get a new arrangement of The Star Spangled Banner... it is SSAATTBB and even though my numbers are a bit smaller than usual, the talent is tremendous so they are able to split into SSAATTBB when they never could before.
And THAT is all the time I've managed to steal for the day. Levi is beckoning my name and Noah is tired of dealing with him :)

Back to School!

Whew! I'm ready, but OH MY GOODNESS! I am feeling overwhelmed. Wish I didn't have 4 of my own kids starting school at the same time. There are too many things to attend on top of *trying* to get my room ready. There was a bunch of stuff that had to be moved out before I could do much to it... and that didn't happen until today. I had a total of 1.5 hours to get my room ready and finish my syllabus. So, I'm feeling unprepared. I'm ready in mind, just not in reality! ha! I'm really looking forward to this year though. I have THE best kids.
Elijah didn't get in class with Mollie. Not real thrilled about that. He's my baby you know. I worry. I want him to be happy. Mollie is his rock when he is away from me (so it is odd to call a 3 year old little girl his rock... but she is!). She is always there. He gets in the car and says "we go see Mollie?" whenever we go anywhere... b/c the only place we go is church and she is always there too! His other friend, Mark, is in the other class too. So it is just him. I'm not expressing any of my concern of course... he may very well toddle along without a care in the world. I hope!
Levi is doing great. He went to church yesterday and today. He is soooo happy to see 'Ms Mona' who will keep him M-W. She'll keep him at church in the morning and then may take him to her house or out and about. I told her I didn't care. I bought a carseat for her to use. He didn't get to nap much yesterday b/c I didn't take a noise maker along and it was VERY noisy with so many school-about-to-start things. He also didn't take his bottle. I wondered about that. He hasn't had to take one all summer. I thought he might choose to wait for me... and he did. Today I fed him before I took him to his room. Had a bottle for him, but again... he didn't take much of it. SO I may not be able to nurse exclusively until a year. I've been giving him puffs and cheerios just to entertain him while we eat dinner... but nothing that would replace a feeding. Looks like I may need to actually replace a feeding while I'm gone if he won't take a bottle. I realize 10 months is about 6 months longer than most people exclusively breastfeed... nonetheless, I planned on going a year. No weaning in sight and I will probably continue to pump just to have it to give in a sippy cup. Maybe he'll take it better from that. He's happy and well taken care of and I'm happy about THAT. Thursday and Friday he'll be at here. Maybe he'll take a bottle better at home where there are fewer distractions.
